Alpaca fiber—a treasure from the Andes: Alpacas are native to the high altitudes of the South American Andes. There, they are exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations—and their wool reliably protects them from both the cold and the heat. These special properties of alpaca fiber are what make it so unique as a filling material for comforters. Alpaca wool is exceptionally fine, silky soft, and yet very durable. It contains virtually no lanolin (wool grease), making it ideal for people with allergies. It is also odorless and has natural thermoregulatory properties: It keeps you warm without overheating and effectively wicks away moisture—for a dry, comfortable sleeping environment.
